My 2016 "Non Resolution" Resolutions

Hey guys!

So around this time every year, both Facebook and Twitter become full to the brim of those 'New Year, New Me' claims, with people making lists of unrealistic goals that they simply wont stick to. Now I have no shame in admitting that I have been slightly guilty of just that in the past, however it's not something I'm planning on doing again. Instead, I've put together a few things I'd like to achieve this year, as well as things I could refine about myself, and I thought I would share it with you!

New Year, Same Me - With a few minor improvements

1. Be a less frivolous shopper - Aka SAVE MORE
Ok so being a blogger and, well a GIRL, I always seem to want every new makeup collection or collaberation in the UK (Actually often, products aren't available here which makes my brain want them even more! - Colourpop, Ofra, Kat Von D; I'm looking at you guys) But I've recently started making lists of things I want, and doing more research on each product, so that I don't regret anything I buy, but also to make sure I really want it. If I'm still thinking about it in two weeks, maybe I will treat myself. Maybe.

2. Move to London
So this one probably doesn't need that much explanation, but yes I'm planning to move to London within the next 4 months or so. At 22, going on 23, I think it's definitely time to fly the nest; and as I want to go into the fashion PR and marketing industry, London is kind of the place to be. This ties in with my first goal, as I obviously need to save up a fair bit before I can even consider moving. And I like shopping. But you know that already...

3. Have more REALISTIC body goals
This is something I think a lot of girls could take on board. Perfection is a myth, so why people are still striving for it is downright silly! - I'm talking to myself here - Results are never instant, the scales do sometimes lie, and every girl has hang ups, so just learn to see past them! Finding a sport that is fun but challenging is key, so I've decided I'm going to try and get back into pole fitness. The confidence boost it gives you as you ace each new move is second to none, plus it tones you up! Win.

4. Improve my Blog!
So at the moment I typically upload a blog post once every 1-2 weeks, but I do want to try and push more for once a week. This year I'd really like to build a following, work with brands, and make my little corner of the internet as professional and interesting as can be. If anyone has any tips for this, feel free to pass them on!

5. Just keep singing
As some of you may know, I'm also a singer songwriter. I've previously written quite a few upbeat, quirky pop songs that have featured on BBC Radio 1 as well as providing me the platform to play the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury which was incredible! I've still been belting out Disney and show tunes non-stop, (I'm only human), but I really want to get back into writing cause it is SO rewarding when you finish a song you've put so much hard work into.

6. Take up a new hobby
I like to keep my brain active and I love languages so I have decided to attempt to learn basic Japanese. My parents have been listening to me recite Hiragana (one of the Japanese 'alphabets' so to speak) and so bought me a Japanese phrase book and dictionary for Christmas which was SUPER cute, so that's definitely spurred me on! We also plan on going to Japan as a family in the next year, so I'm aiming to speak at least tourist Japanese by then. Can't be that difficult right..?

Why did a choose a language with 5 ALPHABETS? Send help please.

7. Climb out of my comfort zone
I've always had this weird anxiety about being in situations where I'm not in control, and it has caused me in the past to cancel dates, or not go to events, simply cause I won't know anyone there or I feel too far out of my comfort zone. I don't know if it's that I worry too much about what other people think or that I'm simply getting in my own head; I don't want it to get in the way of important opportunities as I (try to) progress with my career. I've already made a positive head start on this one as I'm attending my first blogger event at The Body Shop this weekend! - I'm extremely nervous as I don't know anyone going but I'm excited to meet some more beauty lovers! Yay!

So that was my list of aims and achievements for this year, I hope you enjoyed reading them! What are your plans or aims this year?

Thanks for reading your Dose of Determination
